WHITE RIVER

Tucked away in the woods of Leavenworth, Washington, White River is a cozy cabin retreat designed as a weekend escape for dear friends of Mary. While the home had great bones, the main floor (especially the kitchen) was stuck in the 1980s and lacked both function and style. We redesigned the living room, kitchen, and bathroom from afar, managing the project remotely while creating a space that feels warm, personal, and distinctly “them.”

With a modern-meets-cottage aesthetic, the design blends natural materials and playful layers: tumbled-edge quartzite counters, custom white oak cabinetry and doors, and contemporary furnishings with mixed patterns that add depth and charm. A funky tile layout and colorful artwork inject personality, while the original stone fireplace—quarried from the surrounding area—remains a grounding focal point in this inviting, reimagined retreat.
